So out of all of these styles why would any man choose a men’s fleece jacket?

Check. This. List Out.

MEN’S FLEECE JACKET DISADVANTAGES

  • Fibers Pill Over Time
  • Attracts Dust, Lint, Hair etc.
  • Hydrophobic = Prone to Odors

WINTER’S COOL WHEN YOU’RE WARM

So who needs a fleece jacket with all these features?

Short Answer: Who Doesn’t?

Back in 2016 Shelby and I embarked on a cross country road trip and much of it was through the dead center of winter. We knew it was time to take our winter clothing to the next level.

A fleece jacket was an essential asset to our survival during this epic journey. The entire trip revolved around sleeping in our non-insulated minivan and cold-weather hiking in national parks and forests across the United States.

You can learn more about winter travel with our 6 Steps to Survive a Winter Road Trip.

Honestly though, any man can benefit from having at least 1 men’s fleece jacket in their closet. But if you find yourself as someone who loves to spend time outside, and especially in the great outdoors, a quality men’s fleece jacket will shine over others for all the advantages listed above!

Other jackets found in the introduction may not always be the best fit. They may be too heavy to wear for long periods of time, retain water making you wet and cold, have little to no breathing (sweat, sweat, & more sweat), can’t be machine washed, and often times are just outright uncomfortable compared to a fleece.

A fleece jacket is just as comfortable at home as it is in the wild. And in this case, we want to maintain a sense of style.

1. Patagonia Lightweight Better Sweater Marsupial Pullover

Looking for something a little lighter and less ‘fluffy’? The Patagonia Lightweight Marsupial Pullover is certainly better than your average sweater.

Lightweight, functional, and an aesthetically clean execution? No wonder I’m pulling this out of the closest on the regular.

A quarter button up makes this a breeze to take on and off while the roomy marsupial front pocket keeps hands warm.

For colder days and a more ‘refined’ look The North Face Men’s Gordon Lyons Quarter Zip Pullover is home where you are.

The warmth and comfort of this men’s fleece jacket is unreal. The style is also matched with a more sophisticated design and an impressive selection of colors. The names of each color option are great too.

Here I’m shown with the ‘Granite Bluff Tan Heather.’ If that’s not not a bougie color name, I don’t know what is!

I actually own 2 of these in both medium and large. Medium is a more athletic fit for me, while the large is nice and roomy.

So the The North Face Men’s Gordon Lyons Full Zip is the only fleece I don’t own (yet) in this article. But it 100% deserves to be on this list!

If you’re after a heavyweight fleece, full-zip jacket for to keep you warm in cool-to-cold conditions you can stop looking and pick this one up. With this iteration you get a super convenient chest pocket vs. the arm pocket on the previous mentioned quarter zip version. Which I personally prefer for my phone, snacks, cash, ID, etc.

This men’s fleece is so popular that it’s available in 15 different color combinations giving you a ton of options to fit your style.

Two of which I personally own, love, and wear just about every day! And a 3rd that has been won over by those who love to be warm, stylish, and ridiculously comfortable anywhere at any time.

You might even find yourself wanting a fleece for every occasion! (it can’t just be me) Merits of weight, style, and function will have you asking yourself “well which will be the best for me?” It will all depend on your location, weather, and sense of style.

Between just these 3 men’s fleece jackets there are 30 different colors/patterns/designs. Good luck, have fun, be warm, and maintain your style!

Now that you have a sweet fleece in sight, top it off with a lightweight, packable down jacket. Fleece makes a great mid-layer and a down jacket adds more warmth and pretty much blocks all wind. Just hop on over to my Top 3 Men’s Packable Down Jackets for Outdoor & Travel.
