Build Your Packing List for Travel Before You Travel

You know where you want to go, you’ve set your budget, you know the duration of your trip, you decided between solo or group travel, transportation has been taken care of, and you’ve created a full blown itinerary including places to sleep and what to eat.

But have you figured out your packing list?

Clothes and Gear Can Make or Break Your Entire Travel Experience

No rain coat when it’s raining?

Dead phone battery with no charger?

Your casual shoes get ruined on that unexpected hike?

Feeling parched without a water bottle?

Depending on where you’re going and how long will directly affect what you bring.

There Are 2 Types of People When It Comes to Packing:

Those who bring too much and those who bring too little. You know which one you are. How do we know these 2 types of people exist?

They’re us.

I am a prepper and Shelby’s a planner.

She shines when planning a trip or itinerary, but falls short when it comes to a packing list. Shelby almost finds herself in uncomfortable situations on every single trip when it comes to clothes and gear. Fortunately I like to over pack and have exactly what she needs at the moment she starts to vocalize a word of distress.

Despite being a prepper, I am working towards being more minimal. Too many clothes and too much gear can quickly become just as stressful as not having anything at all.

Take It From Us and Plan Accordingly with a Proper Packing List

Account for location, weather, events, necessities, and luxuries. Over time we’ve created a “Master Packing List,” feel free to reference ours for all your travel necessities.

Depending on who you are, where you live, and where you travel will ultimately decide what your Master Packing List consists of, but the benefits will remain the same. You’ll know what clothes and gear you need ahead of time and you’ll know exactly what to pack for the time and location of your next trip

Is your trip nature heavy? Is it city heavy? A mix of both?

Work smarter, not harder!

When you create a new list from scratch every time you plan a trip or just “wing it” you’re much more likely to miss something important. A master packing list is great because you’ll have every bit of clothing, gear, and toiletry options composed into one list so you won’t overlook anything when planning for future trips. This also helps you keep things minimal.

Travel blogger Brooke of “Her Packing List” has a great article on the benefits to packing light. You won’t need a snow jacket in Hawaii or swim trunks in Greenland (unless you’re up for extreme swimming).

Rather than packing everything in the Master Packing List you simply reference it and pull what you need for the specific trip you have planned.
